ERASMUS+
Erasmus+ at the Kawalerowie Orderu Uśmiechu Primary School in Józefina
Let’s get to know each other, learn from one another and work together!
About our school.
The Kawalerowie Orderu Uśmiechu Primary School in Józefina is the largest school in the Żabia Wola Municipality, located approximately 40 km south-west of Warsaw. We currently educate over 600 pupils. We are a large and active school community that supports pupils in developing their talents and interests and encourages them to take on new challenges.
We care not only about the development of knowledge and skills but also about cooperation, creativity, physical activity and responsibility. We want our pupils to be open to the world, curious about other cultures and ready to work with peers from different countries.
What makes our school special?
-
Sport and floorball: ULKS Józefina, a floorball club, has its roots in our school community. The club has won two Polish championship titles, achieved third place in the U16 category and second place in the U19 category. One of our physical education teachers is also the coach of Poland’s U19 national floorball team.
-
English language learning: We organise the OWL Municipal English Language Competition, which encourages pupils to develop their language skills and take on ambitious challenges.
-
Learning through experience: Younger pupils create and maintain a school garden, exploring nature in practice and learning to care for the environment. Our Digital Well-being Corner project, aimed at pupils in Years 4–8, addresses online safety, healthy habits, relationships and critical thinking.
-
Resilience and cooperation: Our school, together with the Żabia Wola Municipality, received the Ambassador of Resilience distinction in recognition of an initiative focused on community resilience, school development and civic education. Partners from Nordic countries also took part in these activities.
These initiatives reflect the values that matter to us: cooperation, perseverance, responsibility, talent development and openness to new experiences. We also want our pupils to put these skills into practice when interacting with peers from other countries.
Our Erasmus+ journey.
Our school participates in the Erasmus+ programme as a member of the Żabia Wola Municipality Consortium, which holds accreditation in the field of school education.
The consortium is coordinated by the Żabia Wola Municipality. Taking part in the consortium opens up new opportunities for our school to grow, exchange experiences and gain international educational experience.
For us, Erasmus+ is an opportunity to develop language skills, discover new teaching methods, foster civic engagement and European values, and broaden the horizons of both pupils and teachers.
We are only just beginning our journey towards international cooperation and do not yet have established partner schools abroad. However, we are enthusiastic about making new connections and building relationships that may grow into long-term partnerships.
Our priorities:
1. European values and active citizenship
We want to help our pupils develop a sense of responsibility, openness, respect for diversity and engagement in community life. We plan to use activities such as debates, simulations related to the European Union and initiatives involving the Youth Municipal Council.
2. English in practice
We want both pupils and teachers to become more confident in communicating in English and using the language in real-life situations. Contact with peers from other countries, eTwinning projects and conversation clubs can help them overcome language barriers.
3. Environmental and climate awareness
We want to deepen our understanding of the environment and encourage responsible action to protect our planet. One of the objectives of our Erasmus+ Plan is to implement four joint non-formal education programmes dedicated to these topics.
We invite you to cooperate with us!
We would be delighted to establish contacts with schools and organisations from across Europe. We are open to joint initiatives, the exchange of good practices and the gradual development of lasting partnerships.
eTwinning projects
We would be happy to collaborate online on projects related to languages, culture, European values, active citizenship and environmental protection. Joint activities will give pupils the opportunity to meet peers from other countries, practise English and take part in engaging tasks.
Pupil mobility
We are interested in cooperating with schools that would like to jointly develop educational programmes and activities for pupils. We believe that learning together, meeting in person and discovering everyday life in other countries help young people develop independence, language skills and mutual understanding.
Job shadowing
We would be pleased to welcome teachers and members of school leadership teams from schools abroad. We can exchange experiences, discuss teaching methods and school management, and seek inspiration together to support further development.
Joint educational activities and workshops
We are open to jointly preparing lessons, workshops and other educational activities. We want to create opportunities for pupils and teachers to learn from one another and explore different perspectives and experiences.
Exchange of teachers’ experiences
We want to discover approaches used in European schools, develop active teaching methods and share our own experiences. We value cooperation that benefits both sides and inspires us to introduce new ideas into our everyday work.
Sharing and disseminating results
We want to share the experiences gained through Erasmus+ with pupils, teachers, parents and the local community. We plan to use meetings, open lessons, school events and information activities to showcase the results of international cooperation and encourage others to take part in similar initiatives.
